I am late with this but I learned this evening that "Everybody...Chris" and "The Game" have been CX'D. I had been on the CW's mailing list and got an e-mail with the Fall line up. I am furious because those shows were the last two predominately Black cast sitcoms on network television and now there's no more. Girlfriends was canceled in a shady manner as well and now with "The Game"especially having a great cliff hanger, the CW has gone and given this show the ax. What, do they not value the ratings from African-American viewers, does our interest mean nothing to them?
I sent the network an e-mail that I will not watch the CW any longer. This is ridiculous, I was thinking of how throughout the 80's and 90's, there were a number of great predominately African-American cast shows, there was variety, well-written shows but into the 2000's, they've been picked off one by one.
Are we supposed to be satisfied with the one and two African-Americans per television show on the other stations, if any, that keep up in stereotypical roles, without love interests, the drug dealer and/or addict, side kick. I saw on Fox that there's a show about brothers with two Black males but the total casts haven't been revealed so it remains to be seen if they aren't the only Blacks on the show.
What are we to do but withhold our ratings and let the programming directors know how upset we are. I doubt it change anything but it's a start.
Protest in numbers.

Bailout and Bankruptcy
After hearing on a news blurb today that Chrysler has filed for bankruptcy, I immediately thought of the billions of tax payers money they received as a bailout. It was about a few billion dollars so where was that money spent for them to still have to file for bankruptcy. I have not yet had to file for bankruptcy personally and pray I never will so I must admit that I am not fully knowledgeable about the entire process. It seems only fair that if it's said that all the bailout money was used, than an itemized statement be made available for the tax payers to view. I won't hold my breath though.
GM should have not gotten one damn dime since they destroyed those electric cars. Only if they agreed to began that program again would I be in agreement to giving them anything but even they got billions, it's a shame. That's not to say that I want thousands of people to loose their job but a lot were laid off anyway.
I am so angry. Bailout after bailout went to wealthy cooperations and if they were not then it's obvious they were not sound investors so they shouldn't be trusted with more money anyway. Yet, just a couple billion dollars would have gone so far with housing, food and education of the more financially strapped of us in this country and gotten the economy stirring from the bottom up much quicker than some trickle down effect.
Now with the horrific possibility of welfare rolls and health care for children being eliminated in CA and probably other states, that will truly cause our collective situation in America to go from bad to worse very quickly.
How can there be so many millionaires and billionaires who call America home and it be one child that goes hungry and/or homeless. I'll be fair and say that I realize that if a person don't know where they're next meal is coming from they most definitely should not be having sex and having a child/children. I also believe that, in the grand scheme of things, we are each other's keeper.
I know I want/need to do something, but what and how is my dilemma. Venting helps though 'cause this is enough to make my pressure go up.
